What should I check first if I get an unexpected CM reading?

A practical troubleshooting sequence for your CM

Step 1 — Temperature
Confirm that the test is being performed within the recommended 24°C–30°C range.

Step 2 — Solution
Confirm the correct water/IPA ratio and that the materials meet the recommended grade.

Step 3 — Solution condition
Consider its age, exposure to air and possible IPA evaporation.

Step 4 — Sample-to-solution ratio
Confirm the recommended 10 ml/cm² ratio.

Step 5 — Test duration
Confirm that the test has not exceeded 15 minutes.

Step 6 — Environment
Consider whether airborne contamination, temperature variation or an uncontrolled factory environment could be influencing the result.

Step 7 — Calibration
Use the correct calibration solution and the established multi-test averaging procedure.
